Interface Process Overview

Interface process overview.  A simple overview of how the gate interface works, in generic terms.

1.  The Property Management System - PMS  creates a text file (update.dat in this case) and places it in the folder where directed. The default is c:\gate.

2.  A COM Object AccountManagerUpdate.exe, which is a component of Axcys, "looks" for the creation of the file that it has been told to.  This is set in the System Manager->Facility Manager->Preferences. See screen shot below.

3.  When AccountManagerUpdate.exe "sees" the file, update.dat,
3a)   It waits a second or two, to be sure that the PMS is done processing it
3b)   It then renames the file
3c)   It processes by reading line by line and following the instruction given by the PMS on each line.
4.  When complete, AccountManagerUpdate.exe renames the temporary file to include the date and time.  The file is saved to the folder c:\gate\history

So every time an update is provided via the Interface, an exact copy is made and saved in the History folder.
We do this since there are times like this, when the PMS provider pushes the problem to us.  It provides a method for us to determine if the problem is on our side, or the other providers side.  Basically gives Global the ability to provide "proof" of what the problem is - thus forcing the PMS provider to Fix it on their end, when in fact it IS their problem.
