The Axcys System has been designed as a Distributed Control System with a Many To One Topography. The heart and brain of the Axcys System is the System Controller. No system device (remotes) - Mux, Keypad, Relay Controller, Elevator Controller or Wireless Head End - speaks to the Controller, unless spoken to first. This provides a very fast, positive communication means as well as many other reliability and installation benefits as well.
In summary, the System Controller Polls each device one by one asking each one for an update of their current status. If anything has occurred since the last poll, the device would report that. For example, a Tenant enters their PIN at the entry keypad. On the next poll that data is supplied to the System Controller. The System Controller acts on that data and replies back to the Keypad telling the keypad what to do - such as display a message on screen, turn on a relay etc. Polling occurs very fast at a rate up to 30 times per second. This poll rate can be increased by utilizing optional technologies - however in most circumstances it is not necessary. Even with 20 or 30 devices operating within the System, each device is still being polled more than once per second. In smaller configurations, the poll rate per device rises proportionally. The Axcys Software provides a means to control the Poll Rate for each device, effectively giving a higher priority to some devices and a lower priority to others. For example a higher priority may be given the all of certain keypads, and lower priority given to Muxes and Wirless Head End. Further, since the System has been designed as a Distributed Control System, certain products have the ability to think on their own, buffer data to report to the System Controller and act as programmed, thus speeding up even more response rates under certain conditions. Optionally multiple Communication I/O ports may be added to the System Controller to further break up the system and make it faster. This is normally not necessary but is good to know that the capability is there.
The Axcys System effectively has no limit to the number of remotes. Remotes of any kind may be added, removed, subdivided etc at any time necessary. In addition, the Wiring Topography may be wired in series or parallel and may included branches and nested branches. This allows an unlimited configuration design. When Global designs an installation, the primary concern is to keep wire runs short which provides both increased reliability as well as contained material (wire, connectors etc) costs and labor installation costs.
The Axcys System has no limit on the number of Units, or Rentable Spaces that a facility may enjoy. In many cases, and Unlimited license is purchased whose limit is set to 10,000 rentable spaces!
The Axcys System has no limit to the number of Tenant Accounts. Tenants may exist as either a Primary, or Secondary. The Primary is the person who has signed the lease. An example of a secondary Tenant Account may be an employee of the Primary Tenant. With the correct interface, Axcys supports secondary accounts.
