Address Best Practices

Device Addressing Rules of Thumb
Separate Device Types(Keypads, Muxes, Elevators, Power etc) by Address Numbers.
1.  Odd numbers are Entrys
2. Even numbers are Exits
3. 100's are muxes and Wireless Transceivers/Head Ends
4. 500's are elevators
5. 1000's are Power Controllers

No remote knows what it really is used for, the remote itself does not care what it does.  It can only perform the tasks that it has been programmed to do, and only does them when it has been commanded to . This makes the system flexible, yet 100% controlled at a central point.

In the Axcys software our configuration (which is saved in the database) tells the software to send a command to remote x to perform function y, for a certain period of time.

How to detemine a Keypads Address
Pressing the * (star) key then the # (pound) key will cause the keypad to display information about itself.  On the top left line, it will show:
MDM - Modem
485   - RS485
No Comm Installed - when no daughterboard is installed, OR no daughterboard was installed when the keypad was last powered up.

The lower left line will show its address:
Adr = ?  Where the current address is in the place of the ?
