Recommended Windows Settings

 
Important!
This computer must be running 24/7/365.  Nothing, other than start up, and login to windows after a power outage/resumption, should happen automatically.  No Windows updates, no Adobe updates, no updates at all, other than the Anti virus should be done automatically.  Especially when a Manager is not scheduled to be on-site.
 
Summary
  • Do NOT auto update anythin except for the Anti-Virus.
  • Do not auto update windows.  Set to notify only!
  • Set all power to never turn off with the exception of the Screen Saver
  • Set BIOS and/or Windows to auto re-start pc when power resumes following a power outage 
  • A single Windows user account with an automatic login and administrator privileges is highly recommended. - Not doing this will prevent the gate software Axcys from running in the event of a resumption from a power outage or the computer trys to re-start for some other reason since Windows will wait for a human to login.
 
Automated Activity and/or Scheduled Processes
NO controlled or automated functions, including backups, should occur during non-office hours.   All activities should occur when a manager is physically on duty.  This is necessary so a human is available to manage any issues that may arrise during these activities.
 
Backup Software, Anti-Virus and Malware
  • Use a minimally invasive anti virus product.  We recommend Avast.  We recommend highly against Norton. Avg, Mc Afee etc. 
  • Backups and virus scans, should exclude the  c:\Axcys folder including all sub folders and c:\PVSW folder - including all sub folders.  Backups will interfere with operation and will not back up the data or application when the Axcys Application running.
  • All scans should occur durring managed office hours.
 
Power and Sleep
  • All power settings should be set to always on - no power saving mode, no sleep or hybrid sleep. 
  • All pc buttons should be for do nothing or shut down.  No hybernation or hybrids- ever.
  • Turn OFF Password entry on resume.
  • USB Power should always be ON.
     
Team Viewer
  • Team Viewer is the product that Global uses world wide to provide distant support to its customers.  Using this tool, Globals technicians can login to your computer, provide updates, support, perform "how to's" etc.

  • After installing, we will need to know the Computer ID and password. Although the Computer ID does not change, the Password normally does. Please email the Computer ID and current Password to support@global-electronics.com
